Le Bab, had been on my list for what felt like AGES!! We’d attempted to dine there previously, but the wait had been too long each time – it’s definitely a popular London foodie spot. This time, armed with a reservation at the bar which Kim had secured that day, we were soon pondering the menu.
I finally tried Le Bab last week with Kim. We went for dinner and a drink before the Boohoo Blogger Christmas Party, and it was seriously yummy.
Le Bab is pretty much a posh kebab place based in Kingly Court in Soho. It’s had so many rave reviews, and the photos on Instagram look awesome. It’s nothing like one of those late night kebabs I’m sure we’ve all had on the way home from a night out, and wake up regretting the next day.

The bar is a pretty cool spot to sit at. Ok, so you have stools instead of chairs, but you get an awesome view of the open kitchen and chefs at work, and you’re not all squashed in either. We soon had a bottle of Chelsea Blonde (Refreshing ale with breadth of flavour & a discrete, citrus palate) each and were pondering the menu and our options.
The beer was really good. Crisp and refreshing, I’ve added it to the list of beer I really like (I only recently started drinking it!) – loved that all the options were brewed locally too!
After deciphering each dish coming from the kitchen, so we could make an informed choice for our kebabs – haha, we actually were scrutinising each dish, “that’s dark meat, has to be lamb”, “ooh that looks good, which one is that? Chicken?” – I settled for the Falafel Kebab (Pumpkin puree, garlic toum, pickled kale and mesclun leaves) and Kim the Paneer Kebab (BBQ paneer, beetroot puree, crispy onion, pickled rainbow chard stem, curry mayo), both wanting to try something a little different, and we also ordered a double cooked chips with fondue to share on the side.
We didn’t have to wait too long before our meals arrived.
Served open, they looked almost like a piece of art. Not like any kebab I’d seen before. The waitress let us know that there were knives and forks available in the pot, but they advised we enjoyed them in the traditional way, rolling them up and eating them with our hands.
So after a couple of quick pics, we got stuck in.
My falafel kebab was SO tasty. The falafel was nice and crisp on the outside, fluffy in the middle, and was so flavoursome. It went so well combined with the pumpkin puree, garlic toum, pickled kale and mesclun leaves. The kebab tasted so fresh, with a mixture of textures, and the combination of pumpkin puree and garlic toum made sure it wasn’t too dry, but also not oozing with sauce, so I didn’t get too messy eating with my hands. All wrapped up in a slightly toasted tortilla it was absolutely delicious.
Kim really enjoyed her paneer kebab too. She said it was full of flavour and really tasty. She did say it got a little sickly towards the end, eating that much cheese, but that could also be because we had fondue with our fries.
And talking about chips, I highly recommend getting the ones with fondue – these were heavenly! The chips themselves were nice and crisp, definitely not healthy, but so tasty. The fondue, a rich and creamy melted cheese, was divine. Thick and runny, it was perfect for dipping the chips, and made the perfect side to our kebabs. I don’t think I’ve ever had this before!
We finished our meals, and paid up before heading off. The bill came to just under £40 including service charge, which is what you’d expect for a meal like that in central London, if not less than what you’d pay on average. It’s possibly more than I’d usually pay for a kebab/wrap, but it’s all about the experience too and we had a fab meal. I could tell why it’d had such rave reviews!
Overall the service was fab, super efficient and friendly, the food and drink was all really tasty, and we had a great spot. It does get busy, so do try to book if you can – a table of two usually gets an hour and a half slot, so keep this in mind if you’re planning on staying out for drinks.
They’ve started doing brunch too, so that’s now on my list.
