I’m a self-confessed foodie. It’s true, food is one way to my heart.
I try to be good, but over Christmas I do admit that I let my control go and give into the temptation of all that amazing food – Christmas pudding and festive desserts, cheese straws and pate pinwheels, chocolate and all that alcohol!
But January is here and it’s time to cut out the bad and get back to being healthy – for at least 6 days a week, I often have one treat day so I don’t turn crazy.
Detox has now begun!
I’ve been challenged by the team at the Laughing Cow to document my January fridge detox, so it starts here.
This is what my fridge looked like towards the end of Christmas…
So much chocolate, leftover yummy food like those homemade pate pinwheels in the tupperware, baklava, whipped cream from desserts, cheese and snowballs (those fab little Christmas drinks Alex introduced me to!). It’s obviously in need of some love and fresh food!
I got a food delivery to get me started – lots of fresh fruit and veg, chopped spices and flavourings needed for being creative and cooking from scratch such as ginger and garlic, some healthy lunchtime carbs, eggs, some yummy healthy snacks and of course some Laughing Cow Extra Light cheese Triangles.
The Laughing Cow extra light cheese triangles are perfect as a snack when I’m feeling a tad peckish – they’re only 19 calories per triangle and 2% fat! Other than eating them by themselves, so far I’ve enjoyed having the extra light triangles as an alternative to mayonnaise in a turkey and salad wrap, or even as something to replace a sour cream dip for crudites like carrot and cucumber sticks – all you have to do is pop a couple in a small dish and give it a little stir, maybe add a touch of black pepper, paprika or herbs!
I’m also loving ryvita with soft cheese, a twist of black pepper and topped with cucumber for lunch!
But I’m going to be getting more creative – so stay tuned for new recipes and to see how my fridge detox turns out.
What’s your go to healthy snack?
*I was contacted by the team at The Laughing Cow to get involved in the detox and I was sent a delivery of food. All thoughts are my own.
