Ok so the brunch wars went on hold for a few weekends whilst I was away visiting family, and whilst we were both ill – you just don’t fancy an extravagant brekkie when dosed up on Lemsip and feeling nauseous. But they’re back! Alex made some more awesome pancakes (I think he’s obsessed!), then I tried to top it, and I’m sure I came pretty close with my latest breakfast – breakfast tacos! We had some leftover standing soft tacos from dinner in the week, which is where my inspiration first came from – I just hate waste! So I got thinking about all the wonderful breakfast toppings I could pile into them, and obviously which would be the best combos because let’s face it…

Pancakes. There are so many ways of making the batter, there’s thick fluffy pancakes and thin crepes, flavoured batters, and all manner of toppings that you can pretty much shake it up each time. We seem to be having pancakes almost every weekend now, albeit some are pretty healthy, but we’re hooked. A Saturday morning usually goes something like this… me: “what shall we have for brunch today? Shall we try something new?” (We both usually go to the gym Saturdaymorning so don’t eat until 1ish) Alex: “Oh. I thought we were having pancakes.” Me: “Oh ok. Let’s have pancakes. Again.”, said whilst giving Alex a look as though he always goes for the same thing – but I never regret giving in. Quite often I’ll suggest them myself too.…

One thing I love about my job is that I get to meet people for meetings over breakfast or lunch. In fact, it’s expected of you. What’s not good about that? As I always try to make it easier for the person I’m meeting to get back to office in time, it means I get to eat out in several different areas of the city, which gives so many more opportunities to try a new place. And as you all know, I love to try new food spots. I recently had a breakfast meeting with Rachel in Kensington, near High Street Ken station – lovely area, beautiful buildings and huge stores. I proposed a few restaurants (all from my list of places to try), and we…

Breakfast in bed is undeniably one of the best things. Even when you like cooking, like I do, there’s something about having brunch or breakfast brought to you, whilst you’re still all cosy under the duvet. Ok, I do get out of bed to shower so I feel better about myself before jumping back into bed ready to indulge, but that’s not the point – I like to feel good about myself, even if I’m in bed all morning. Surely I can’t be the only one. Well what if you both didn’t have to get out of bed, except to answer the front door? Ok, so it’s not exactly brought to you whilst in bed but almost… Collecting our brown paper bag from the delivery…

Sometimes, I like to make myself a different brekkie to Alex at the weekends. It’s not that I don’t want what he’s having, it’s just that sometimes I’m trying so hard to be good, and also when I eat a big brekkie, I regularly get super lethargic and just feel poop for the rest of the morning! And no one really wants to feel like that, no matter how good the food is. One weekend recently, Alex was having one of my delicious ultimate cheese toasties (all the cheese! Recipe here), so I decided to make myself something with a bit more green. Something which looked good, but tasted pretty yummy too. I made these baked breakfast mushrooms.. They were so yummy! The huge mushrooms…
