KFC is a guilty pleasure of mine. Just the smell gets my stomach growling. But what’s inside that brown paper bag, well. The crispy, seasoned skin, which comes away so easily, and makes you savour every mouthful. A little salty, but it just makes you want more. The tender, juicy meat inside, slightly seasoned from the outer coating, but even more delicious dipped into the thick herby gravy. To me, every now and again, it’s heavenly. Ok. So it’s fried and totally naughty, so it isn’t a regular thing. But after a hard week, when I desperately crave a good film and takeaway snuggled up on the sofa, I do crave it. Like quite a lot. That’s why I decided I needed an alternative. A…

Chicken. Saucy, tender yet crispy where it matters, finger-lickingly good chicken. Bird had been on my list of restaurants to try for AGES! And when I say ages, I mean since the restaurant in Holloway first opened. I don’t know how it took me so long to finally make it there. There’s even a branch closer to me now too, in Camden, so there should have been no excuses – how can you turn down a chicken restaurant? We went along on a Monday at about 7.30pm before our film screening at the Odeon (love a bargain monday!), and it was relatively quiet. I didn’t realise it was full table service, so I was a little knocked off balance when we walked through the door,…

Last weekend, Alex asked me if I wanted to go to Pump Shoreditch for some early evening food – A plan which earnt him HUGE brownie points. I’d walked past Pump Shoreditch a few times, but didn’t ever realise what it was like. Pump Shoreditch is a street food market which has been around for about 2 years. Located on Shoreditch High Street, it’s a fab street food location which is also under cover (pretty similar to the cover of a forecourt at a petrol station – I think it’s a carpark in the week), perfect for the unpredictable climate of Britain. With over 10 traders, there’s lots of choice, and it’s even BYOB so would be a great spot for starting an evening out in Shoreditch (one…

Ok, maybe at Wetherspoons but still. It’s a thing! Wetherspoons is one of those places that’s pretty standard wherever you go and super cheap for a lunch or dinner catch-up with a friend. You pretty much know what you’re getting and when you stick to their daily deals, or lunchtime deli deal you know for a fact you won’t spend over £10, even with two drinks! We spotted Mexican monday recently, a new addition to the wetherspoons daily deals, and so a friend and I decided to give it a go. We popped along to the branch nearest work at about 1pm, with it not being too crazily busy, we took a speedy look at the menu (you’re always on a timer for lunch breaks…

Recently I’ve had huge cravings for Mexican food. It could be the combination of rice, meat and vegetables all in a soft wrap, the spiciness of the dish (I always have the hottest salsa or chilli) or the fact that watching burrito takeaway outlets make my meal right there is front of me always feels a little healthier. But whatever the subconscious motive – I love a good mexican, even if I make it at home! I do make a mean chilli! I will admit I’ve now tried quite a few different burrito takeaway places – Chilango, Chipotle and Barburrito – and to be completely honest, there’s not all that much in the competition. They all serve great food! I did have one I’d be more…
