I hardly ever go for a cake when out for coffee. I almost always exercise my will power (which is apparently very strong according to my mum) to resist the temptations. Escape the city. Let’s face it, sometimes we really want to, or even need to. Just to grab a moment of serenity. Just for yourself to breathe, take 5 and think about the here and now. Not let any of the work stress or city anxieties, the daily to-do list or bills, get through. Just to relax. The city can be a little too much sometimes. It’s funny how the first thing you think of when you hear a word can change over time. If you’d have given me the word ‘notes’ when I was in my late teens/early twenties, I would have immediately thought about music notes – my Grandma is an AMAZING piano teacher and I used to have lessons, as well as learn to play the flute when I was at school – but give it to me now and I immediately think of tasting notes, like in relation to food & drink – bright, tangy, fruit, wine-like flavour, floral notes, you know…all that jazz. How many coffee shops can you name? If you can just name the big 5 or so..then you’re missing out on some little beauties!
