How many times have you had Chinese and ordered something veggie? Ok, if you’re vegetarian, how often do you choose Chinese over another wold cuisine? For me. I’d never ordered a veggie option, I usually love to choose something different to the many meat dishes I eat when with Alex. But it’s always been a  matter of limited options. Looking at a standard Chinese menu, there’s a vegetable chow mein, mixed veggie curry, veggie sweet and sour, or just something plain, like mushrooms. Where’s the variety? Well that was until recently. Zing Zing has just launched a new vegetarian and vegan offering, the ZZGREEN menu. With over 20 options, with everything from Szechuan Aubergine to Sweet Potato Rendang, there really is plenty to choose from.…

We all have those go-to easy pleaser spots on our lists. You know the ones. The pizza express types, where you know food will be decent, and even if service isn’t top notch, you’re not paying too much so it doesn’t make you hate the place. Note: Pizza Express has actually surprised me recently. Busaba Eathai is one of those for me. A spot I can always rely on for a good catch up with the girls. Service isn’t always that great, but they have something tasty for most on the menu, and you know you’ll probably get a space – no queuing for an hour for this place. A number of large sharer tables and the odd small table for two make up the…

Bottomless Brunch. The weekend plan which has become THE thing to do with a Saturday/Sunday, so much so that even restaurants you wouldn’t expect to offer a brunch menu, like Shackfuyu has jumped on the bandwagon. Due a brunch catch up with Sandy, we decided to try Asia de Cuba, the pan Asian restaurant located inside St. Martin’s Lane hotel, where I went recently to try the new spring menu (well what can I say, I was converted into a fan – read that review here).  Seated at our reserved little table for two in the corner (perfect spot for a good gossip and giggle), we got settled for our two hour slot of eating and drinking until we burst (that’s pretty much the point…

We’ve all heard it. Fish and chips in London aren’t as good as in the North. And to be honest, fish and chips back home in the Midlands do taste different. Perhaps a little greasier, the fish with a little more batter, the chips might even be triple cooked due to less customers than a London eatery – and we all know how much better triple cooked chips are (If you haven’t tasted these beauties you have to take a trip to Hawksmoor soon!). I’ve only had fish and chips a few times since living in London, always a little disappointed and making a mental note to wait until I visit my parents for my next fix. But I recently had a portion that made me…

That freshly baked smell of warm bread, straight from the oven, as it floats around you and makes your tummy rumble. Seriously, how can anyone resist? I love a freshly baked loaf. Give me one of those over a full sliced white/wholemeal loaf any day. It might not always last quite as long, but it sure tastes better whilst it’s there. That crunchy crust, fluffy and light middle…it’s making me hungry just writing this. Recently I was lucky enough to be sent some of the new products which have just launched at Polish Bakery to try. The Polish Bakery is the oldest polish bakery in the UK, and considers a good loaf of bread the heart of every culture. So much so, that they say…
