Sometimes I just want chocolate. I don’t know what it is, and I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in this. It’s actually quite strange for me. I’m naturally more of a sweet person – jelly snakes, foamy strawberries and fluffy marshmallows. I also love a plain pancake with fruit and compote – all the natural sugars. But recently I thought I’d give chocolate pancakes a go. And they’re definitely coming out again! Super fluffy, the pancakes themselves had a beautiful chocolate flavour, just potent enough. The fruit added a juicy element whilst the nuts some salty crunch – a combo…
Eton Mess is a classic. A truly British dessert loved by many. The fresh, juicy berries, light and airy, sweet meringues, runny coulis, and thick indulgent cream, a dreamy combination. A treat to be devoured every now and then. But for those moments when I crave a classic, like an Eton Mess, during the week I like to put a healthy twist on it. Less guilt, no feeling like I need to gym to burn it off, and yet still just as delicious. And that’s exactly what I’ve done with this Eton Mess version. Using low fat or fat free…
Cinnamon whirls are one of Alex’s favourite things. Well actually, pretty much anything with cinnamon playing a big part in the recipe, but these in particular are up there. Alex normally buys the ones from the fresh bakery section at the supermarket. The ones almost the same size as my face – pretty big pastry in my mind – and eats it on the go, or warm with a…
It never surprises me when someone says they don’t like Christmas pudding. I only started loving it a year or two ago, but it is really rich and fruity and for some that’s too much, even with the cream on top! We’re actually having a Christmas pudding and an alternative this year, for those who don’t fancy a bowl of hot fruity pudding with runny cream. So that got me thinking – what would I choose as an alternative this Christmas… It had to be ginger cake. I LOVE a Jamaican ginger cake, especially when it’s warm. The sweet and…
This week I started thinking…so many restaurants and bars now have such weird and wonderful creations … Such as Marmite cocktails and horseradish icecream … and I wanted to create something a little different myself. A dessert I would never have considered before. So by now I’m sure you may have all seen my other Tabasco recipes so you might realise what my secret ingredient is. My handy little kitchen partner this week! At first I thought about Tabasco chocolate mousse, but then thought this would be boring, an easy choice (everyone knows chilli and chocolate pair well!)…and cookies came…
