Escape the city. Let’s face it, sometimes we really want to, or even need to. Just to grab a moment of serenity. Just for yourself to breathe, take 5 and think about the here and now. Not let any of the work stress or city anxieties, the daily to-do list or bills, get through. Just to relax. The city can be a little too much sometimes. Always on the go, constantly something to do or see. Working days are known to be longer in the big smoke too, and with everything on top, it can get a little much – and that’s perfectly normal. Escaping at lunch for a break (when possible) isnt really always escaping either, with everyone available at the end of a…

My birthday this year has been full of surprises! Alex and I have done experiences over presents for birthdays for a while, as we love trying or seeing new things, and there’s not many seriously awesome presents you can really think of when you’ve been together so long – all the good ideas got used up a year or so ago haha. Well my sister followed suit this year, and with her surprise for me on a weekend in the middle of Alex’s two surprises, my birthday truly went  on for a few weeks! A little spoilt but I like to drag out the celebrations. Alex’s first surprise, seeing The Weeknd from the box, was awesome (read all about it here) and Emma’s brunch and…

Sat at a little chipboard effect table for two earlier this week, in the coolest new coffee & cocktail spot, Alex turned to me after taking a sip of my decaf espresso Martini and said “I’m surprised you like that. You’re actually a proper coffee lover now”. I hadn’t been for a proper coffee with Alex for a long time, but I realised he was right – it’s not just about the caffeine fix and getting through the day for me anymore, piling in the sugar or ordering a milky flavoured latte to hide the taste. I actually LOVE the taste of a good cup of coffee. And this new spot does a bludy good coffee. Ok, I did only try it in a cocktail,…

The cutest market I’ve ever seen. For anyone who hasn’t been yet, Maltby Street Market, close to Bermondsey and London Bridge, is a small food market with a range of street food and artisan brands selling ready to eat food and produce, such as Bad Brownie, The Beef Steaks and The Cheese Truck. These are all cushioned alongside bars and quirky restaurants which can be found under the arches of the railway bridge, serving everything from Oysters to Spanish tapas. Bustling with Londoners and a few tourists, it’s not always as busy as Borough Market, which is lots bigger in comparison, and incidentally it’s not always quite as packed. But it’s still rather busy, especially when it’s sunny outside, as I found out recently. Making our…

One thing I love about my job is that I get to meet people for meetings over breakfast or lunch. In fact, it’s expected of you. What’s not good about that? As I always try to make it easier for the person I’m meeting to get back to office in time, it means I get to eat out in several different areas of the city, which gives so many more opportunities to try a new place. And as you all know, I love to try new food spots. I recently had a breakfast meeting with Rachel in Kensington, near High Street Ken station – lovely area, beautiful buildings and huge stores. I proposed a few restaurants (all from my list of places to try), and we…
