Last minute deals don’t really seem to exist anymore, but leaving it pretty late to book we seemed to have got an awesome offer on our holiday this year. Not only that, the weather was amazing for September, the hotel had plenty on to get involved in, even for adults, and we came back totally relaxed. Read on to find out more… Normally I’d book our holiday as early as possible. Give us something to work for and look forward to. Something to make that hard slog at work totally worth it. I think last year we booked our September holiday in March, after I’d probably been looking since January. I was counting down from May. Haha. But this year due to changes in our careers,…

A couple of weeks ago now I jumped on a National Express coach down to Bath to see Char,  my best friend from uni. Overdue a huge catch up, I was heading down a little earlier than the other girls so we could have some time together before the wedding planning resumed full steam ahead – she’s getting married next March. With an afternoon to explore, we headed for lunch before letting the inner explorer out and heading to explore the Botanical Gardens. The gardens were beautiful. Very peaceful and quiet. There were times we felt like if we stepped over the bridge or up the stairs we’d stumble across the secret garden. A magical place undisturbed by others. Still chatting the whole way round,…

City breaks. As much as they’re about culture for me, they’re also about food. Getting to try the traditional cuisines from exactly where it all started and from the people who know how to prepare it and serve it best, is always top of my list of things to do – it’s all about the things to eat! I bet you’re not shocked there. Madrid was no exception, and with Kim on the same page as me, both being serious foodies, we had plenty of options on our list to try during our trip. In fact, we had way too many to fit into our short break. We quickly found that food in Madrid is all about the carbs, fried food and cheese, and although…

OK, so this post is a little late going up but I feel like there’s been so much going on that I pushed this to the side a bit. Maybe because I didn’t know where to start – my holiday was just amazing. So from the start. We booked our holiday to Portugal back in March, after the January sale but I felt at a time when holiday companies were still pushing lots of offers. But then these days, when aren’t they? We got a fab all inclusive deal through First Choice/Thomson, for a 7day all inclusive holiday for roughly £540 each. I thought this was pretty good considering we wouldn’t really have to spend anything on food and drink unless out. At times I…

It is cheaper to get flights to Amsterdam than it is to travel by National Rail from London to Newquay! With so many more options throughout Europe, and cheap flights being found on Skyscanner and EasyJet from all London airports, why would Londoners stay in the UK to spend more for a short break weekend? However, I have always wanted to go to Center Parcs. The activities, days cycling, on the go go go all the time. I’d love a short break like this! So many of their activities on my to-do list – archery, segway rally (obvs a little competitive racing), high ropes and obstacle courses, fencing and the list goes on. I heard that Center Parcs have a new resort opening on the…
