January – the month that we’re made to feel like fat hippos after indulging over Christmas. It’s not helped by all the gym, nutrient and food companies pushing their healthy products at you, and making you feel worse – Do this for 30 days and look like this, take that for a month and feel fantastic. To be honest, yeah you might have eaten and drank a bit too much, but who didn’t. When I was a home with the family over Christmas, I think I had two desserts EVERY DAY! And so what, they tasted seriously delicious and I enjoyed every mouthful! It’s the one time of year I let myself eat what I want and I love it. So January for me is just…

This week I tried HulaFit for the first time, something I would never have thought I’d have been doing on a Monday evening, not being very good at keeping the hoop up, which is the main part right? To be completely honest my friend Lucy, who came with me, made me take the opportunity to try HulaFit. We recently tried a hula hooping session at the Maximise Blogger Event we went to, where we were hooping competitively, and Lucy was super eager to try the fitness class. And even though I was very dubious, the coaches at HulaFit promised to get me hooping in no time. So on Monday, armed with my gym kit, comfy trainers and a bottle of water (which I later found…

I love a group night out. An evening to have fun with your friends, laugh lots, and do something you enjoy. But it doesn’t always have to mean drinking right? I recently got invited along to the Megamix games by Maximise, and got to invite 5 of my friends along too for an evening of fun and games. And fun it was! My brother was down for the weekend so he got to come along as one of my team. It was a fab way to spend his first evening with us, and he was SO good! They held the event at the Lucozade Power League in Shoreditch, a great location for team sports, pretty central, and  easy to find. They got us kitted out in…

Yesterday I had my second swimming lesson with Swimming Nature (If you missed my first lesson, you can read it here), and came out feeling so empowered and proud at the progress I’d made. I even mentioned it as a high of the week in our weekly team meeting at work! This week Sam went through a bit of a recap with me, to get me used to being back in the pool and the feel of floating, and being under the water etc. – he was impressed that I’d practised at the weekend too! – before he continued to teach me how to do front crawl. Obviously, practising at the weekend did help – the more you do it and the more you’re in…

You guys might have noticed in my recent post on tips for ensuring the perfect way to start the day (you can read it here if you missed it), I mentioned that I was going to start swimming in the mornings. Well I did it. Yesterday I was up at 6am, hair up, swimming costume on, fully dressed and out the door 10 minutes later. A new record set I reckon! I actually had a swimming lesson booked for 7am with Swimming Nature at Fitness First in London Bridge (note: you don’t need to be a member if you book a lesson with Swimming Nature), which definitely helped with the motivation to get up – knowing I would be letting someone else down if I didn’t…
