A standard cup of coffee just wasn’t going to cut it for international coffee day this year – THE coffee day when you have the excuse (if you need one) to indulge those caffeine cravings with something fancy. Don’t get me wrong, you cant beat a perfectly brewed flat white with creamy milk poured into the mug to create a pretty pattern on a regular day. But on these other occasions, coffee cocktails are the way to go. Especially over brunch! I was lucky enough to be invited to brunch with Tia Maria for International coffee day – the dark coffee liqueur. Taking place at St. Barts Brewery in Smithfield, almost the whole restaurant come bar was buzzing with life, groups nattering and people tucking…

Bored of the usual brunch menus, eggs benny, florentine or royal, pancakes with bacon and maple, eggs any way you want on sourdough or rye, and avo on toast? Brunch is so popular these days, after all that’s what weekends are for now, but it doesn’t mean every restaurant needs to serve the same boring menu. And I know what you’re thinking, there’s only so many ways you can shake up breakfast ingredients, but do you really believe that? All the bank holiday weekends recently have offered the perfect excuse to go out for brunch, and with Alex’s first sale in his new job to celebrate, I decided I needed to treat him. With pancakes top of his breakfast wishlist, even though I make them almost every weekend at home (I know right?! I like to shake things up myself!), we decided it was finally time to visit The Diner in Camden. Having been on ‘The List’ for ages (it’s ever growing guys!), it only kept getting put to the side as I don’t like to queue for brunch. I like somewhere you can book and arrive at your designated time and sit down straight away – in the mornings I get HANGRY! Like…

Shakshuka. Something I didn’t even know existed until a year ago when I ventured to NOPI, one of Ottolenghi’s restaurants for brunch and wanted to order something completely different, something he was well known for. It was seriously amazing. Since then, I always keep a eye out for it on the menu if we’re out for brunch. Recently Alex decided he was treating me to a brunch as a celebration for getting my new job (brownie points??), and so off we ventured all of a 5 minute walk to Chez Bob. Can you believe we’d never been before when it’s so close? With Shakshuka on the menu, I knew it was going to be a great start to the day. Chez Bob is a little…

I told you guys all about what my sister, Emma, planned for my birthday recently (read my post here). She did a stellar job, full of surprises and giggles along the way. Well, with a full day out, we obviously had to stop for a bite to eat. And she totally smashed that too. Opening my little stage 2 card, on the Saturday it didn’t give much away apart from the fact that she was treating me to lunch. And that’s when she took me to Bill’s. In my eyes, Bill’s is always a winner. Jumping the queue, as Emma had thought ahead and booked us a table, we settled into a cute little table for two – Emma taking the comfy sofa seat along…
