I told you guys all about what my sister, Emma, planned for my birthday recently (read my post here). She did a stellar job, full of surprises and giggles along the way. Well, with a full day out, we obviously had to stop for a bite to eat. And she totally smashed that too. Opening my little stage 2 card, on the Saturday it didn’t give much away apart from the fact that she was treating me to lunch. And that’s when she took me to Bill’s. In my eyes, Bill’s is always a winner. Jumping the queue, as Emma had thought ahead and booked us a table, we settled into a cute little table for two – Emma taking the comfy sofa seat along…

Last year I don’t think I bought any Easter eggs. How bad is that?! Hot Cross Buns. Now that’s a different story. Hot Cross Buns are an absolute fave of mine. An Easter treat enjoyed as early as possible, right up until and after Easter. They make a delicious breakfast, served simply with butter, or with peanut butter and banana, or even with jam and strawberries! I actually love them so much that at my old job, instead of a birthday cake like everyone else, we’d have hot cross buns for mine – I’m so lucky that my birthday is close to Easter! This year however, I’m definitely buying Easter Eggs. I am not missing out for another year, and I’m off to visit my…

Easter. The time of year which has become renowned for Chocolate. Mini eggs, white chocolate bunnies, creme eggs, milk chocolate sheep, HUGE chocolate eggs, the list goes on. It’s the second yearly occasion, after Christmas, where you’re bound to eat too much – the temptations just get out of hand. And that’s normal. This year, I’m heading home for an Easter lunch with the family and mentioned that I’d bring something.  Not wanting to carry home Easter eggs (they take up so much luggage space), I started thinking of dessert options, and something super chocolatey and gooey for after lunch. I do love ending on a sweet note after all. I was messing around in the kitchen, trying a rock road recipe, when it went…

I’ve always considered myself pretty switched on. You know, intelligent, brainy, knowledgeable…a geek. At high school, I was in the top 10 for maths, and my love of knowledge and learning didn’t diminish as I went into sixth form or university. Although I didn’t get all A* grades, or a first, I still thought I was pretty smart. Until recently. Let’s just say, I realised that I couldn’t ever be a spy or detective. My sister organised a day of birthday surprises in Birmingham, with my birthday pressie from mum and dad tied in too. Starting with a lovely hour of retail therapy, coffee and catching up, we headed to eat (my treat from Emma) before driving 30 minutes to Sutton Coldfield, for a surprise afternoon…

I don’t usually head out for pizza, pasta or salad, unless I’m going to a new, super cool, restaurant which I’m dying to try after drooling over everyone else’s Instagram posts and stories – FYI, I do this WAY too much! I just think I can cook most of it at home, which I know, isn’t always necessarily the case, but I like to try and go to new places if I eat out. It’s how I justify the spending. Pizza Express however, is one of those places I tend to fall back on for catch-ups with the girls or my sister when in Birmingham, because it’s so chilled and there’s always plenty of options for all. It’s always a great shout, but I realised…
